Global Goals Week
At the end of September, I always feel a sense of hope for the world. It’s because the International Day of Peace and Global Goals Week coincide.
The Sustainable Development Goals are an important part of my life and my teaching, so I got to thinking. How can I connect literature in general and the themes of Shipshape specifically to the SDGs. I decided to create a couple of resources to get started. I am planning on adding some more because once I started thinking about some of my favorite books, I realized that connecting the goals is an easy way to make meaningful connections across the curriculum.
So in honor of this very special time of year, I have created a couple of free resources for teachers to use to keep Global Goals Week going long after the end of September. Try them out and let me know what you think.

If you’re looking for some books to get started with, Take Action Global has a wonderful list of books about SDG13 Climate Action. It was curated by global educators.
No matter what you choose, incorporating the SDGs into literature helps students make meaningful connections to important local and global issues.
